The Crochet Knit Stitch

This method of crochet uses the special "Double Ended Crochet Hook".  A hook on each end enables two or more colors to be easily worked within the same piece.

For practice, use a Double Ended Crochet Hook size H-8 {5mm} and Knitting Worsted weight yarn in two contrasting colors which we are gonna call "A" and "B".

With color A, chain 20

Row 1
With B chain 1, insert hook in 2nd chain from hook, yarn over and draw up a loop, keeping all loops on hook, draw up a loop in each stitch of chain-----21 loops on hook.

Row 2
Push stitches to other end of hook, turn.  With A, yarn over and draw through first loop, *yarn over and draw through 2 loops, repeat from *across until one loop remains on hook.  Do not turn.

Row 3
With B chain 1, insert hook under top horizontal bar between first 2 vertical bars, yarn over and draw up a loop, keeping all loops on hook, draw up a loop in each horizontal bar across----21 loops on hook.

Continue to repeat Rows 2 and 3 for Basic Reversible Crochet-Knit pattern.  Always end a completed piece after Row 2.

Please note:  Always use color A when working from left to right and Color B when working from right to left.

The illustrations and instructions below shows you how the Basic Afghan Stitch is formed and how the Crochet Knit Stitch is also formed.  The Basic Afghan Stitch is to the right of your screen and The Crochet Knit Stitch is to the left of your screen.
